PREPS DIGEST -- JV, middle schools

* Girls' tennis: Parrott Academy 9, Wayne Country Day 0 -- The Chargers dropped a tough non-conference loss to the Patriots on Tuesday afternoon. Playing for WCDS were Nancy Chen, Hanna McKeithan, Cady Stanley, Diya Shreenath, Martie Rose, Grace O'Daniel and Louise Gurley. The Chargers travel to Rocky Mount Academy on Sept. 14.

* Volleyball: Rosewood d. James Kenan 25-20, 10-25, 25-18 -- Jala Holloman collected four kills and served an ace in the Eagles' road win. Allana Atwell contributed two kills, three aces and one dig. Braylee Butts dished out nine assists. Maddie Honn supplied two kills and three aces. Rosewood (5-4 overall) improved to 2-1 in Conference 1-A Conference play.

* Volleyball: St. Mary's d. Wayne Country Day 25-18, 14-25, 25-5 -- Graysen Jeffreys led the Chargers with two aces, one kill and two digs. Madison Britton had one ace, one kill and three digs. Katie Strickland notched one ace, one dig and two assists. WCDS (1-5 overall) is the guest Halifax Academy today.

* Volleyball: C.B. Aycock d. Southern Wayne 25-19, 10-25, 25-14 -- Hannah Carter paced the Golden Falcons with seven kills, eight assists and five aces. Daelyn Brock had 10 aces and four kills. Taliyah Green posted four kills and two blocks. Caitlyn Vick (two kills), Elizabeth Lively (three aces) and McKenzie Norris (five assists, one ace) played well offensively in the three-set affair.

* Volleyball: Spring Creek d. North Duplin 25-10, 25-21 -- Statistics were not reported to the News-Argus from the Carolina 1-A Conference game.

* Volleyball: Eastern Wayne d. New Bern 18-25, 25-18, 25-21 -- Naomi Williams had 17 assists and served four aces for the Warriors. Alyssa Jackson contributed 10 kills and three blocks. Rayna Gibson had two kills and two blocks.

Middle schools

* Volleyball: Rosewood d. Brogden 25-6, 25-20, 25-11 -- Rylee Myers served nine aces as Rosewood opened its season with a three-set sweep of the Rams. The Eagles (1-0 overall) travel to Spring Creek MS next Tuesday.

* Volleyball: Wayne Country Day d. Northeast Charter Prep 25-18, 25-16 -- Greyson Jeffreys paced the Chargers' offense with 10 service aces and one kill. Katie Strickland added five aces. Lexi Jeffreys, Cate Eagles and Summer Daniels also contributed offensively to the two-set sweep. The Chargers (5-0 overall) entertain Wilson Christian on Sept. 15.

* Volleyball: Greenfield d. Wayne Christian 25-23, 25-15 -- Wayne Christian (1-3 overall) visits Cape Fear Christian on Friday.

* Volleyball: Norwayne d. Grantham 25-17, 25-15, 25-18 -- It was the Wayne County Middle Schools Athletic Conference season opener for both teams. Norwayne (1-0 overall) entertains Greenwood on Thursday.

* Volleyball: Spring Creek d. Wayne School of Engineering 25-19, 25-11, 25-16 -- Emily Dupuy and Amanda Haggerty emerged as the offensive leaders for the Gators. It was the WCMSAC opener for both teams.
