Burton shoots lowest score on Cardinal CC links

SELMA -- Rosewood's Lindsey Burton claimed medalist honors with a 42 during a five-team meet played on the Cardinal Country Club links Tuesday afternoon.
North Johnston's Jessica Phillips ended up second with a 49, followed by Goldsboro's Ashley Smith with a 50. North and Goldsboro tied with identical team totals of 155, but North took first place because it had the lower third-player score.
Rosewood took third with a 159 that included nine-hole rounds from Shamayah Revis (54) and Sara Bowling (63). Wayne Christian secured fourth place behind the efforts of Grace Buddin (58), Kesley Sanders (60) and Laura Kim (61). Teammates Cassidy Davis and Brianna Verme each carded a 62.
Princeton was led by Casey Mitchell (59), Casey Huffman (60) and Adrianna Smith and Kaitlyn Jackson, who each fired a 63.
