SPIVEY'S CORNER -- Midway executed a successful fake punt and returned a muffed kickoff for a touchdown during its 43-29, non-conference win over Rosewood on Friday evening.
The Raiders' two back-breaking plays occurred after the Eagles tied the game at 29-29 on Cameron Helt's 13-yard, third-quarter touchdown run.
"Midway outplayed us at every level ... offense, defense, special teams and coaching," RHS head coach Robert Britt said. "I thought our kids fought extremely hard to tie the game in the third after being down 22 points. However, we couldn't overcome our mistakes on special teams.
"Midway deserved the win."
Mike Woodard paced Rosewood's ground attack with 108 yards and two touchdowns on 14 totes. Helt rambled for 46 yards and threw for another 45 yards.
The Eagles (1-2 overall) visit Lejeune on Friday.
