Rosewood boys, girls sweep Carolina 1A meet

Rosewood's boys and girls teams each won a quad meet of Carolina 1-A conference teams on Thursday evening.
The boys posted a score of 166 with 13 winners out of 17 events.
Marquail Almontaser won three individual events -- the triple jump, 300-meter hurdles and 110-meter hurdles.
Quan Joyner won the 100-meter dash in 11.3 seconds, and Zack Barnes took the 400-meter dash (54.78). Tyree Chavious won the shot put with a throw of 118 feet.
Rosewood won all three relays as well.
James Kenan was the only other team to have an individual winner and finished second overall with 58 points. North Duplin scored 23 and Spring Creek scored 14.
Rosewood's girls posted a team score of 87, led by Krystal Yelverton's wins in the 100-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles. Kendra McCoy took the 100-meter dash in 13.12 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 28.38. Katie Kornegay won the 3200-meter run in 17:10. Aquia Davis placed first in the long jump with a mark of 13-4.
The Eagles won the 800-, 400- and 1600-meter relays.
Rachel McCollum took both the shot put and discus throw for Spring Creek, which finished with 16 points.
North Duplin took the 3,200-meter relay and came in second with 45.5 points. James Kenan finished with 42.5 points.
