Margaret Tanner notched a natural hat trick (three consecutive goals) during the second half of Wayne Country Day's 6-0 romp over nemesis Greenfield on the Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference scene Monday afternoon.
Tanner tallied her first goal barely two minutes into the second half off of Allison Bailey's assist. Tanner added a goal-scoring shot into the upper left corner and capped her phenomenal second-half play by converting Bailey's corner kick into a goal.
Bailey knocked in two goals and dished out two assists. Janae Jones punched in a goal on an assist from Tanner.
"It was the best game we've played from start to finish (this season)," WCDS head coach Steve Ellis said. "Everything we have worked on and talked about fell into place. It's great credit to the girls and with (it) being a rivalry game, it couldn't have been better timing."
The Chargers (4-5-0 overall, 2-0-0 CPIC) return to action Apr. 21 at Pope John Paul Catholic.
