MOUNT OLIVE -- No. 32-ranked University of Mount Olive put the finishing touches on its second consecutive Conference Carolinas men's tennis regular-season championship with a pair of weekend victories.

The Trojans (14-3 overall, 9-0 CC) dropped only one match during triumphs against North Greenville and Erskine. UMO concludes regular-season play at home Tuesday.

First serve is 2 p.m. on the Walker Tennis Center courts.

Five UMO seniors -- Edgar Bub, Henric Falkenberg, Matt Finnerty, Stanley Roffe and Paul Wiedersphan -- will be recognized prior to the match.

MISENHEIMER -- Savannah Becker connected on two-RBI, fourth-inning double and University of Mount Olive swept a doubleheader from Conference Carolinas foe Pfeiffer University on Sunday afternoon.

Beth Overman added a two-RBI hit in the sixth inning as the Trojans took the opening game, 7-4. Lauren McGrath delivered the game-deciding hit during UMO's 8-7, nine-inning triumph in the nightcap.

In the opener, the Trojans (24-16 overall, 11-5 CC) turned aone-run advantage into a 6-3 cushion. Taylor Carter connected on a lead-off single and advanced on Kelsey Akers' base knock.

Each runner moved up a bag and scored on Overman's single. Becker completed the three-run outburst with an RBI hit.

Trojan pitcher Madison Johnston (12-3) worked four innings and Kayleigh Jones earned the save with three innings of relief.

Kristin Powers belted a fourth-inning grand slam to help UMO -- once again -- erase an early deficit. The Trojans led 6-3 on Power's sacrifice fly in the top half of the sixth, but the Falcons knotted the contest at 6-all in their half of the inning.

Tied at 6-6 after regulation, each team plated an eighth-inning run. In the ninth, Overman started the inning on second base via the international tie-breaker rule and scored two outs later on McGrath's single.

The Trojan defense held in the bottom of the ninth as Lauren Smith (6-6) retired the Falcons on three consecutive fly balls, the last a pop-up to Akers at shortstop.

Mount Olive travels to in-state rival Chowan University on Wednesday.

MOUNT OLIVE -- Roxanne Chouinard's come-from-behind victory at No. 2 singles lifted University of Mount Olive past Erskine, 5-4, on the Conference Carolinas scene at the Walker Tennis Center.

The Trojans swept Emmanuel, 9-0.

UMO claimed two of three doubles points against the Flying Fleet. Erskine prevailed in three singles matches and tied the overall match at 4-4.

Chouinard bounced back from opening-set, 6-2 loss to win to 6-2, 6-3. The rally gave the Trojans their first victory over Erskine in more than decade.

UMO concludes regular-season play home Tuesday against Barton. Seniors Chouinard and Francesca Ceppi will be honored prior to the match.
