North Duplin diamond 9 improve to 6-3

CALYPSO -- A five-run third inning gave North Duplin all the cushion it would need to cruise to a 9-6 win over Carolina 1-A foe James Kenan on Thursday.
Hunter Jones led the Rebels with two hits. Copeland Brickhouse, Cedrick Kornegay, Trey Pate, Colby Bass, Hunter Thurston and Kaleb Brock each provided one hit for North Duplin.
Ken Avent homered twice for the Tigers.
Kornegay got the win on the mound, giving up two runs in four innings and striking out six.
Colby Bass and Dustin Carter combined in relief on the mound.
The Rebels improved to 6-3 overall and 4-0 against conference opponents. The entertain Spring Creek on Tuesday.
