Hawks prevail in walk-off fashion

La GRANGE -- Daron Gray delivered the game-winning, walk-off single during North Lenoir's 6-5, non-conference triumph over West Carteret at Alphin Field on Monday evening.
Jacob Baird hustled home on Gray's decisive base knock -- his second hit of the night. Luke Jackson added two hits. Baird, Greene, Garrett Letchworth and Orlando Cannon provided one hit apiece.
Caleb Beard smacked a solo home run.
Braxton Greene emerged as the winning pitcher with two innings of no-hit, three-strikeout relief. Orlando Cannon started on the mound and retired three Patriot batters on strikeouts in three innings. Drew Burke permitted two runs in two innings of work.
North Lenoir (2-2 overall) visits West Carteret next Monday.
