Eagles dominate cross country meet

Rosewood's boys and girls combined to win 18 events during a six-team meet contested on the Eagles' track Monday afternoon.
On the boys' side, Marquail Almontaser emerged victorious in three events -- triple jump (36 feet, 4 inches), 110-meter hurdles (16.0 seconds) and 300 hurdles (46.94).
Dalton Farmer claimed the 1,600 and 3,200 runs.
Teammates Malique Boyd (long jump), Garrett Tyndall (high jump), Alex Godwin (pole vault), Quan Joyner (400) and Kodey Silknitter (800 run) each won an event.
Rosewood seized the 1,600 and 3,200 relays.
Goldsboro's Ray'Quan Barnes took first in the 100 dash (11.37) and 200 dash (23.87). The Cougars took the 800 and 400 relays.
On the girls' side, senior Krystal Yelverton broke the tape first in the 300 hurdles (56.72) and 110 hurdles (17.75). Teammate Amina Bash recorded first-place efforts in the 1,600 and 3,200 runs.
Callie Thornton (shot put), Kiandra Taylor (discus) and Lexi Mercer (high jump) each prevailed in one event.
Rosewood won the 3,200 relay.
Goldsboro's Tayzlie Tripple won the 800 run. The Cougars also claimed the 400 and 1,600 relays.
