Trailing Princeton 6-3 entering the bottom of the seventh inning, Ti'wuan Hardy capped a four-run Goldsboro rally with a walk-off line drive to right field to win the game for the Cougars, 7-6.
Isaiah Core reached base on a walk to start the late rally. Then Jared Howard reached base on a dropped third strike. Thomas Vick's base hit loaded the bases for Sterling Dodson. Dodson drove in Core with a base knock, and then Maurice Stokes walked to score Howard.
Chandler Patrick, who was the winning pitcher, was hit by a pitch to score the tying run which set the table for Hardy's heroics.
A sophomore, Hardy had three hits, including a double to lead the Cougars. Sterling Dodson had two hits and Howard and Vick each had one.
The freshman Patrick came on to pitch two innings of no-hit relief to allow the Cougars a shot at coming back. He struck out two and walked one.
Goldsboro (1-2 overall) plays host to Beddingfield on Tuesday.
