CBA's Davis, Sanford combine for road shutout

RED OAK -- Kyle Davis and Jacob Sanford combined for a four-hit shutout as Charles B. Aycock knocked off Northern Nash, 3-0, on Thursday afternoon.
Davis yielded four hits and retired two Knights on strikeouts in five innings for his first mound victory of the season. Sanford earned his second save in as many appearances with two innings of no-hit, one-strikeout relief.
Ashton McGee (RBI), Chandler Matthews (RBI), Trent Herndon (RBI) and Hank Smitherman cranked out one hit apiece for the Golden Falcons.
Aycock (3-0 overall) opens Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference play at home today against New Bern. First pitch is 5:30 p.m.
