North Duplin scratched across three or more runs in four innings as the Rebels dominated Northside Jacksonville in a 15-4, six-inning mercy-rule victory in non-conference action.
North Duplin cranked out 12 hits, including two apiece from Cedrick Kornegay, Bryce Best, DJ Morrisey, Kaleb Brock and Copeland Brickhouse. Best, Morrisey and Brock combined to drive in seven runs.
"I thought we played much better tonight, especially at the plate," first-year North Duplin coach Chuck Crumpler said. "We got out bunts down, we were aggressive running the bases and we got big, timely hits in most of the innings to push runs across the plate."
Northside Jacksonville committed seven errors.
Trey Pate got the win on the mound throwing four innings of three-hit ball. He surrendered two unearned runs in the first.
Colby Bass shut the door in the fifth and six, giving up two runs and striking out three.
