WILSON -- Charles B. Aycock launched its 2015 campaign with a season-opening, 8-1 non-conference loss to perennial Big East 3-A power Fike on Wednesday afternoon.
The tandem of Chas Hooks-Allan Best claimed the Golden Falcons' lone point at No. 1 doubles. The duo turned back Reid Harris-John Gliarmis 9-7.
Aycock's No. 3 doubles of Brock Painer-Matt Hair battled in a 9-8 (6) loss.
"This was a good win over a team that returned four of their six starters from last year," Fike head coach Lee Matthews said. "I was pleased with the sweep of singles."
