DEEP RUN -- North Duplin and perennial Class 2-A juggernaut South Lenoir played to a 2-2, non-conference tie after eight innings Wednesday evening.
The lights at South Lenoir wouldn't work.
Courtney Brock paced the Rebels' offense with two hits and scored a run. Rylee Pate (two RBI), Southern Wayne transfer Haley Brogden and Mikayla Koch provided one hit apiece.
Pate worked five innings in the circle and surrendered two runs on three hits and two walks. She struck out seven Blue Devil batters. Brogden tossed three innings of two-hit, four-strikeout relief.
