* Girls' basketball: Wayne Country Day 27, Greenfield 21 -- Langley Barnes pumped in a team-high 10 points for the Chargers, who advanced to the championship game of the 2015 Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference tournament. Janae Jones and Katie Strickland provided six points apiece. Wayne Country Day (12-4 overall) faces Freedom Christian on Saturday at Greenfield School. Tip-off is 1:30 p.m.
* Boys' basketball: Wayne Country Day 47, Pope John Paul Catholic HS 24 -- Mitch Turnage led a balanced offensive attack with nine points. John Strickland and Sam Dively knocked down eight points apiece. The Chargers (14-2 overall) oppose Greenfield in the CPIC tournament championship game Saturday at Greenfield. Tip-off is 3 p.m.
