WCDS girls snap 17-game skid, reach CPIC tournament final

WILSON -- Wayne Country Day snapped a 17-game losing streak with a 31-24 conquest of Pope John Paul II Catholic HS, 31-24, in semifinal-round play of the Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference tournament Friday evening.
PJP had swept the regular-season series.
Rebecca Edmondson led the Chargers' attack with nine points. Lexi Jeffreys scored eight points. Lillian Freeman and Jasmine Jones supplied seven points apiece.
Wayne Country Day (1-17 overall) faced Freedom Christian Academy in the finals Saturday afternoon.
