TARBORO -- Rosewood's reserves earned some quality mat and helped the Eagles claim the 2014 Carolina/Coastal 10/Two Rivers dual-team championship Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles (36-4 overall) clinched their 20th conference title in program history and will make their 20th straight appearance in the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 1-A dual-team playoffs.

"Our one goal for this season is to win the state title, so making the (state) tournament is the first step in that process," RHS head coach Bill Edmundson said. "This is the time of year when we should be starting to peak in terms of ability and endurance. We have wrestled a very tough regular season (schedule) and it has paid its toll in terms of injuries."

Edmundson also sat several of his starters to give several of the JV wrestlers an opportunity to compete on the mat. They helped Rosewood defeat Manteo (68-10), Neuse Charter (80-0), Princeton (69-12) and Tarboro (72-12).

Overall, 22 Eagles combined for 49 individual wins on the day.

Garner Beasley emerged as the lone RHS grappler to log a 4-0 worksheet. Tanner Smith, Reid Amodeo, Malique Boyd, Jayden Thomas, Sam Drew, Evan Reiss, Kaleb Smith, Rayquon Jones, Kaleb Taylor and Quan Joyner collected three wins apiece.

David Dotson, Dylan Melgar, Tierra Jones, Jacob Carter, Tyler Rowe, Cameron Helt, Tyree Owens, Jarelle Simmons, Joseph Waters, Josh Drew and Blake Dean also contributed to the team's success.

Rosewood returns to action Thursday at Greene Central and will compete in a JV tournament at Panther Creek on Saturday.
