CHAPEL HILL -- Nick Greyno emerged as the men's weight throw winner and Alexis McNeil set a school record in the women's 60-meter dash as the University of Mount Olive returned to indoor track competition after a month layoff.
The Trojans competed in the Art and Linda Maillet UNC Open.
Greyno, who set a school record in the weight throw last year, won by nearly a full meter with a distance of 15.21 meters. He finished first out of 10 competitors, including four from Division I schools. Greyno also finished fifth out of 14 throwers in the shot put.
Austin Steagall finished second out of 19 runners in the mile run with an NCAA Division II provisional time 4 minutes, 13.92 seconds. It was the fifth-fastest time in the nation so far this season.
On the women's side, McNeill placed fifth in the 60 meters in 7.83 seconds and beat the previous UMO school record by .01 seconds. She also competed in the 800-meter run and 1,600-meter relay.
Southern Wayne alum Kanesha Jones took fifth in the triple jump (10.56 meters), which is the third-best distance in UMO history.
