Lakewood boys ease past North Duplin

SALEMBURG -- Lakewood outscored North Duplin by 12 points in the middle two periods and pulled away for a 65-52 victory in Carolina 1-A Conference play Thursday.
Tyree Payton led the Rebels' offense with 18 points. Ced Kornegay chipped in 13. Luke Britt and Travaye Darden provided five points apiece.
North Duplin (2-4 overall, 1-1 CC) returns to action Dec. 26 in the annual Duplin County Christmas Tournament, which is hosted by James Kenan.
