During the past two seasons, Eastern Wayne has undoubtedly enjoyed its most successful run on the football field.

Here are a few highlights:

2013

* The Warriors finished 11-3, including a 7-1 record at Little Big Horn. That team earned the program's first playoff win since 1978 and advanced to the eastern regional championship for the first time in school history.

EW set single-season records for victories (11), playoff wins (3), points scored (412) and winning percentage (.786).

2014

* Once again, the Warriors fashioned an 11-3 record -- but ended up 6-0 at home. They halted a 36-year drought by earning their first road playoff win since 1978. And they claimed their first-ever postseason triumph over a No. 1-ranked team when they shocked Southern Guilford, 56-55, in overtime.

EW smashed its previous single-season record for points scored (518). Coach Bubba Williams' squad set a new school record for margin of victory (16.6 points), eclipsing the old mark (11.58) set by Bill Garner's 1978 squad that seized the Mideastern 4-A Conference championship.

The Warriors matched three single-season program records -- total wins (11), playoff wins (3) and winning percentage (.738).

DID YOU KNOW?

According to N.C. High School Athletic Association records since 1972, just three Wayne County teams -- Rosewood, Goldsboro and Eastern Wayne -- have advanced to the eastern regional championship game.

The three schools are a combined 2-9 overall.

Rosewood won regional titles in 1973 and 1991, and finished state runner-up on each occasion.

Eastern Wayne is the first-ever county school to make back-to-back trips to the regional finals.
