Hawks win PK shootout against Panthers in 2A soccer playoffs

La GRANGE -- North Lenoir converted four penalty-shootout goals and turned back North Johnston, 2-1, in opening-round play of the 2014 N.C. High School Athletic Association 2-A playoffs Tuesday evening.
Eric Holloway gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead off of Mike Bednarz's assist in the 11th minute. The Panthers answered with the equalizing goal in the 21st minute.
After two overtime sessions, the teams headed to PKs. Reed Parrish, Nick Kennedy and Bednarz all connected. Greene delivered the game-clinching goal.
Jacob Baird had two saves in the PK shootout.
North Lenoir (12-11-1 overall) faces either Carrboro or North Brunswick on Saturday.
