Rosewood and defending Carolina 1-A Conference champion North Duplin ran out of sunlight, so they tried to finish the match by headlights.

It didn't work as well as hoped.

The lack of light forced the match to be called after the No. 1 seed doubles match and gave North Duplin a 4-3 triumph Thursday evening.

Julys Quintanilla, Casey Whitted and Hannah Smith each won their singles matches for the Rebels.

Faith Baker, Bethanie Kirby and Victoria Hill won for Rosewood, which played without their usual No. 3 seed Kennedy Behrend after she hurt herself in warm ups.

The match came down to the doubles courts where Quintanilla-Conner Mikitka won 8-3.
