PIKEVILLE -- Despite a one-point lead after two possessions, Charles B. Aycock head coach Steve Brooks couldn't have drawn up a worse start.

Southern Wayne scored on its first offensive possession.

The Golden Falcons threw an interception on their initial possession, but scored on their second chance despite getting backed at their own 2-yard line. The offensive unit couldn't protect quarterback TJ Morrow, who took a hit on every play.

CBA faced a third-and-28 situation.

"Sometimes all it takes is one big play," Brooks said.

Brooks got his wish.

Morrow took a shotgun snap, avoided a defender in the end zone and hit Daemon Darden down the seam for a 35-yard completion, and first down. A few moments later, first-year starter R'Keesh Greene found the end zone and the Golden Falcons went in overdrive.

Greene finished with a career-high four touchdowns in Aycock's 51-12 victory in Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference play Friday evening.

"We've been preaching to these guys all week that we just need them to make plays," Southern Wayne head coach David Lee said. "That's the perfect example. We had him (Morrow) in the end zone sacked (on) the play before he escapes, throws a ball we just miss getting an interception on.

"Then the next play, we have again in the end zone, and he gets away steps up and that's what happens. It was devastating, I'm not going to lie to you."

The pass play from Morrow to Darden is what finally got the Golden Falcons, but Greene's running is what kept them in control of the game. Greene carried the ball 10 times for 90 yards scored all four touchdowns in the first half.

Heading into the game, the Golden Falcons' rushing attack averaged just over 80 yards a contest and had scored just three TDs -- one less than Greene's career output in just 24 minutes of play.

Greene credited the big men up front, who created holes he hadn't been used to seeing this season.

"It was all my line man," Greene said. "I got behind them, found the hole I was supposed to get to and it parted like the Red Sea man."

Morrow finished the game 11 of 16 for 170 yards and one interception. His receivers dropped four passes.

Southern Wayne started Alex Bradley at quarterback in place of normal starter Jacob Hollingsworth, who continues to recover from an arm injury. Bradley threw for 109 yards, one TD and one interception.

Manny Walker and Tyaire Allen led the Saints with 180 combined all-purpose yards.

C.B. Aycock (4-3 overall, 1-0 ECC) has the necessary wins needed to qualify for the postseason. They have once-beaten Eastern Wayne remaining on the 3-A part of their conference schedule.

"We're playing with some house money right now," Brooks said. "It takes some of the pressure off we can do some crazy things to try and get a win against some of those 4-A schools. We're in.

"I just don't see how we don't get in (to the playoffs)."
