Preps digest: JV, middle schools

JV

* Volleyball: South Lenoir 2, North Lenoir 0 -- North Lenoir lost both sets to South Lenoir 15-25, 13-25. Courtney Carmon had two kills for the Hawks. North falls to 7-5 on the season.

* Volleyball: Hobbton 2, Rosewood 0 -- Jala Holomon led the Eagles with three killes in a 25-17, 25-14 losing effort. Toree Marak and Demetria Percival each had two digs for Rosewood.

* Volleyball: Ayden Grifton 2,Goldsboro 0 -- Ayden Grifton won both games 25-11, 25-14 over Goldsboro on Thursday. Tawanna Jones had two kills and two blocks.

Middle schooles

* Football: Grantham 30, Greenwood 6 -- Micki Gaines had a 35-yard interception return for a touchdown to lead Grantham past Greenwood. David Brewer had a 40-yard touchdown run and Khalif Barnes had a 30-yard touchdown reception. Tomarcus Swift scored on a fumble recovery.

* Football: Nowayne 20, Mount Olive 0 -- Levon O'Neal, Omar Montgomery and Amir Fuller each scored touchdowns for Norwayne in the shutout. Tyler Parrish, Josh Gooding and Jonas Creel led a stout defense. Norwayne returns to action on Thursday against Grantham.

* Football: Dillard 22, Spring Creek 12 -- Xzavion Bowden scored a 50-yard touchdown as Dillard cruised to a 22-12 win over Spring Creek. Elijah Hinnant and Taevian Jackson also each put the ball in the endzone. Sileek Warren and Leonard Winstead had four tackles apiece. Dillard improved to 2-0 and travels to Rosewood next Thursday.

* Soccer: Rosewood 7, Wayne School of Engineering 2 -- Logan Mitchell turned a five-point performance with a goal and three assists for the Eagles. Geovanni Abril had a goal and an assist. Hayden Maldonado, DeVante Phillips, Kyle Matthews, Tanner McKeel and Tyler Acord also scored goals for Rosewood. WSE's goals were scored by Colin Williams and Aaron Podbielski. Rosewood is now 3-0 and takes on Norwayne on Monday.

* Volleyball: Rosewood 3, Wayne School of Engineering 0 -- Rosewood swept Wayne School of Engineering 25-11, 25-5, 25-16 on Thursday. Laine Marak had five aces for Rosewood. Rosewood travels to Norwayne on Monday.

* Volleyball: Norwayne 3, Spring Creek 0 -- Norwayne had to play a couple extra points but they snuck away with a 25-14, 25-11, 27-25 sweep of Spring Creek on Thursday. Norwayne improves to 4-0 on the season and hosts Rosewood Monday.
