WCDS nets win over Kerr-Vance

WILSON -- Wayne Country Day won the first five singles matches and handed Kerr-Vance Academy a 7-2 loss on opening day of the Alice Cobb Memorial at Barton College.
Gianna Democko, Taylor Willman, Jennifer Potts, Ally Willman and Eliza Eagles each won in straight sets. Democko-Anna Allen prevailed at No. 1 doubles, while Taylor Gumbish-Potts triumphed at No. 3 doubles.
The Chargers (8-1 overall) faced Statesville Christian at noon today in a rematch of last year's state-title match won by Wayne Country Day.
