Blue Devils sweep Cougars in ECC 2A volleyball opener

South Lenoir snapped Goldsboro's six-match win streak with a 25-16, 25-16, 25-6 victory in the Eastern Carolina 2-A Conference opener for both teams Thursday evening.
Alexus Davis led the Cougars with 10 digs, three kills and one block. Becka Pittard had five kills and three aces.
"We've come a long way, but that shows us how far we have to go," said GHS head coach TJ Lancaster of the program's longest win streak during his tenure.
"There's no moral victories, but now we know where we stand. South Lenoir is one of the top programs. We have some work to do."
Goldsboro (7-3 overall, 0-1 ECC) entertains Kinston on Tuesday.
