Warriors ease past Saints in ECC tennis

DUDLEY -- Hope Jones and Stephanie Gonzalez each won a singles match during Southern Wayne's 6-2 loss to Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference rival Eastern Wayne on Tuesday afternoon.
Jones defeated Brennan Dove at the No. 1 slot, while Gonzalez turned back Kaycee Kamper in three sets at the No. 4 flight.
The Warriors received singles wins from Elizabeth Sutton, Emily Uzzell, Samantha Roux and Kathryn Harrison. Uzzell needed three sets to defeat the Saints' Brooke Kornegay.
Dove-Sutton and Roux-Harrison sealed the outcome in doubles.
Eastern Wayne (2-5 overall, 2-4 ECC) entertains South Central on Thursday.
