INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- After enjoying the comforts of sleeping in their own beds, the University of Mount Olive baseball team will hit the road for the 2014 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional.

The second-seeded Trojans (40-11 overall) put their 23-game win streak on the line against fifth-seeded Georgia College in opening-round play Thursday afternoon at Lander (S.C.) University. UMO and GC are meeting for the second consecutive year and eighth time overall in regional play since 1997.

Peach Belt champion Lander, the regional's No. 1 seed, faces South Atlantic champ Catawba in first-round action. Columbus State opposes Peach Belt foe USC in the other first-round game.

The double-elimination tournament continues through Sunday with the winner advancing to the College World Series in Cary.

UMO is making its fifth consecutive postseason appearance and eighth overall in the last 10 years. The Trojans emerged as the CWS champions in 2008 and tied for third at the 2011 CWS.

Georgia College has won eight of its last 11 games. The Bobcats (34-15) dropped a heart-breaking, 10-9 decision to Lander in semifinal-round play Sunday afternoon.

The six-team field has accounted for five of the last Southeast Regional championships -- Mount Olive (2008, 2011), Catawba (2012), Columbus State (2007) and Georgia College (2010). The Southeast champion has finished among the nation's top four teams at the College World Series in six of the last seven years.
