Gators weather Leopards' seventh-inning rally

SALEMBURG -- League-leading Spring Creek weathered a seventh-inning rally and turned back Lakewood, 6-4, in their Carolina 1-A Conference contest Friday evening.
The Leopards scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Will Rouse paced the Gators' offense with two hits and an RBI. Logan Miller, Sawyer Smith (RBI), Allen Coor, Matt Rogers (RBI) and Hunter Walker each contributed one hit in the road win.
Miller and Chad Spurgeon combined for a six-hitter on the mound. Miller gave up three runs (one earned) on five hits, while Spurgeon provided one inning of one-hit relief.
Spring Creek (13-2 overall, 9-0 CC) is the guest of Hobbton on Monday.
