Trojan women endure triple-OT heartbreaker

HICKORY -- Candace Corkin and Michelle Fortier combined score seven goals during the University of Mount Olive's 11-10, triple-overtime loss to in-state foe Lenoir-Rhyne College in a women's lacrosse match Sunday afternoon.
Trojan goalie Hannah Knight recorded a single-game school-record 17 saves between the pipes.
Lenoir-Rhyne notched the game-winning goal with 1:22 remaining in the third extra session.
Mount Olive (9-4 overall) entertains Conference Carolinas foe Lees-McRae on Saturday. Game time is 7 p.m. at Amon Field.
Softball
BRISTOL, Tenn. -- The University of Mount Olive endured losses of 7-2 and 6-0 to Conference Carolinas foe King (Tenn.) University on Sunday afternoon.
Jennifer Jones had a bases-clearing double to account for the Trojans' runs in game one. In game two, King pitcher Hannah Light threw a complete-game three-hitter and struck out six UMO batters.
The Trojans (14-24 overall, 2-6 CC) entertain Conference Carolinas foe Belmont Abbey on Saturday. First pitch is 2 p.m. at Nancy Chapman Cassell Field.
