GOLDSBORO -- The University of Mount Olive men's and women's golf teams each recorded a top-four finish during opening-round play of The Trojan at Walnut Creek Country Club on a rainy Monday afternoon.

The 36-hole tournament, sponsored by Smithfield Chicken 'N' Barbecue and Handy Mart, concludes today.

Mount Olive's Jesus Valderrama fired a 1-under par 71, good enough for third place out of 47 individual golfers. Dalton Gore shares sixth place with a 73, while Sebastian Andersen is among six golfers who posted a 2-over 74.

Mark O'Hara (75), Jeff Villalobos (77), Jose Ramirez (81) and Brady Hollenbacher (82) also competed for the Trojans.

Limestone's Griffin Brown is next at 2-under 70.
