WCDS shuts out Epiphany in CPIC baseball

Mitch Turnage and John Strickland combined for a three-hit shutout as Wayne Country Day defeated Epiphany, 2-0, in a Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference game Friday.
Turnage struck out 11 and walked six in the win. Strickland struck out two in two innings to clinch the save. Epiphany stranded 10 runners on base.
Parker Smith tallied a hit and scored a run. Mason Bland and Jacob Magera also added hits for the Chargers.
Wayne Country Day (3-2 overall, 1-1 CPIC) plays host to Word of God on Monday afternoon.
