Spring Creek needed just three hits to defeat Rosewood 9-3 and seize sole possession of the Carolina 1-A Conference lead on a rainy Friday afternoon.

The Gators received a boost from four defensive errors and seven walks by the Eagles. Those miscues and free passes led to eight unearned runs for Spring Creek, which improved to 8-2 overall and 5-0 in league play this season.

Chad Spurgeon, Matt Rogers and Allen Coor each had one hit and one RBI. Coor and Spurgeon combined to steal five bases.

Logan Miller got the win on the hill for the Gators in three innings of work. Miller, Will Rouse and Spurgeon combined to allow five hits and three unearned runs.

Reed Howell led Rosewood's offense with two hits and two RBI. Jordan Gurley and Daniel Herring had one hit apiece.

Gurley suffered the mound loss.

The Eagles (4-4 overall, 3-1 CC) play host to James Kenan on Monday.
