WINTERVILLE -- Meredith Burroughs tied the state record for career home runs and Taylor Waddell went the distance inside the pitcher's circle during Charles B. Aycock's 8-1 triumph over Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference foe South Central on Wednesday evening.

Burroughs belted the 40th round-tripper of her career, tying the mark set by T.C. Roberson's Izzy McCurry. Burroughs concluded the night 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Waddell permitted an unearned run on nine hits and logged five strikeouts in the seven-inning affair. Waddell helped her cause offensively with two hits and three RBI in four official at-bats.

Keeley Fulghum batted 2-for-4. Connor Vinson, Allison Shingleton, Cierra Harris and Mackenzie Wheeler (RBI) each had one hit.

The Golden Falcons (5-2 overall) improved to 3-1 in the ECC this season.
