Southern Wayne softball opens season with shutout win

DUDLEY -- Southern Wayne began its season with a 15-0, five-inning over Goldsboro on Wednesday.
Morgan Best earned the win inside the pitcher's circle. Haley Brogden belted a home run for the Saints. Kelsey Hayes added a triple.
Claire Kennedy, Keaton Bradley, Kaitlin Williams and Olivia Simmons each had a hit.
Mary Dunn collected the Cougars' lone hit.
Goldsboro visits Hobbton on Friday. Southern Wayne travels to Greene Central on March 5.
