LaGRANGE -- Tyler Smith just missed hitting for the cycle in a 4-for-4 performance during North Lenoir's 9-0 non-conference win over Southern Wayne at Alphin Field.

Smith singled, doubled twice, swatted a home run and collected five RBI. He also scored three runs for the Hawks, who posted their second consecutive shutout over an Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference team in as many days.

Landon Letchworth contributed three hits, scored three runs and earned the mound win. He permitted two hits in five shutout innings and recorded five strikeouts.

Noah Reese provided two innings of one-hit, one-strikeout relief. He had a hit and an RBI at the plate.

Jacob Baird supplied two hits and two RBI.

Kevin Williams, Jacob Hollingsworth and Hunter Barwick each batted 1-for-3 for the Saints. Jackson Hayes endured the pitching loss.

The Saints (0-2 overall) travel to Spring Creek today. North Lenoir (2-0) visits Wilson Fike on Monday.
