JV sports
* Boys' basketball: Goldsboro 74, Ayden-Grifton 52 -- Kisheem Faison paced the Cougars' attack with 15 points. Nakia Atkins added 12 points. Goldsboro is the guest of North Lenoir today.
Middle schools
* Boys' basketball: Wayne Christian 40, Faith Christian-Rocky Mount 31 -- Austin Kornegay emerged as the Eagles' top scorer with 15 points. Wayne Christian (6-7 overall) travels to Lee Christian today.
* Boys' basketball: Grantham 48, Greenwood 30 -- Jamal King led three Grantham players in double figures with 15 points. Rakilen Butler and DeAndre Wright chipped in 14 and 10 points, respectively. Grantham rose to 9-2 overall this season.
* Girls' basketball: Norwayne 37, Mount Olive 16 -- Cassandra Lassiter led the unbeaten Cobras with eight points. Hannah Vinson and Arlanda Faulkner contributed seven points apiece. Raquel McCullen led Mount Olive with five points. Norwayne (11-0 overall) visits Grantham on Monday.
* Boys' basketball: Eastern Wayne 59, Brogden 31 -- Coby White led the Warriors with 12 points, while Isaiah Davis chipped in 10. Marcus Rouse provided eight points.
* Girls' basketball: Eastern Wayne d. Brogden -- Channing Williams knocked down 14 points. Tammaria Smith dropped in 12 points. Twins Myesha and Nyesha Best contributed 10 points apiece.
