Preps digest: JV, middle schools news

JV sports

* Boys' basketball: Goldsboro 59, North Lenoir 49 -- Kisheem Faison paced the Cougars' offense with 20 points. Nakia Atkins chipped in 12 points.

* Boys' basketball: New Bern 62, C.B. Aycock 39 -- JaQuan Ray led the Golden Falcons' attack with 14 points. Cameron Kornegay chipped in 13 points.

* Girls' basketball: New Bern 41, C.B. Aycock 23 -- Sean-Keya Faison emerged as the Golden Falcons' top scorer with eight points. Teammate Ashley Shingleton contributed six points. Aycock fell to 2-11 overall and 1-6 in Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference play this season.

* Boys' basketball: Faith Christian 33, Greenville Christian 27 -- Christian Mills led the Conquerors with 15 points. Anderson Raleigh added eight points in the win.

* Boys' basketball: Greenfield 82, Wayne Country Day 52 -- Jeremiah Johnson knocked down 16 points in the Chargers' loss. PJ Hill scored 10 and Tony Townsend added nine points. WCDS (7-3 overall) suffered its first Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference loss of the season.

* Girls' basketball: Greenfield 21, Wayne Country Day 10 -- Jasmine Jones had three points for the Chargers. Teammates Hannah Neal, Langley Barnes and Kaitlyn Daniels collected two points apiece. WCDS (3-8) dropped to 1-3 in CPIC play this season.

Middle schools

* Boys' basketball: Greenfield 38, Wayne Country Day 27 -- Sam Dively dropped in eight points for the Chargers. Sam Smith scored seven points. Drew Barnes and Marcus Metcalf each tallied six points. WCDS (3-8 overall) fell to 1-4 in CPIC play.
