Local swimmers battle in multi-team meet at the Y

Swimmers from D.H. Conley and J.H. Rose combined to win 21 of 24 contested events during a nine-team meet at the Goldsboro Family Y on Tuesday evening.

Goldsboro's Timmy Vick touched the wall second in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.28) and swam the opening leg on the Cougars' 400 free relay. The foursome of Vick, Victor Prezbindowski, Vincent Spagnuolo and Zach Darden turned in a fourth-place time of 4:09.12. The same quartet also placed fourth in the 200 free relay in 1:46.42.

Darden claimed the 500 free (5:05.17) and 200 individual medley in 1:58.83. Vick captured third in the 200 free.

Charles B. Aycock senior Devin Hall claimed the 1-meter diving with 189 points. He also secured sixth in the 50 free.

Southern Wayne's Austin Edgecomb finished second with a regional-qualifying time in the 500 free, and ended up fourth in the 200 free.

Rosewood's Kodey Silknitter was fourth in the 200 IM.

On the girls' side, Goldsboro's Matti Lyon placed fourth in the 200 free (2:31.61). Teammate Olivia Paul seized fourth in the 100 backstroke.

Rosewood's Ciera Satterfield and Eastern Wayne's Tricia Malcolm grabbed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 200 IM. Malcolm wound up third in the 50 free, while teammate Briana Applegarth was sixth.

Southern Wayne's Chloe Edwards was sixth in the 100 butterfly.
