North Duplin 18, Weldon 12
* WELDON -- North Duplin scored all of its points in the final 10 minutes to upend Weldon 18-12 in the opening round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association class 1-A (small-school) playoffs.
The teams remained scoreless through three quarters as neither offense could find a footing. James Britt got the Rebels on the scoreboard when he connected with Ced Kornegay on a 24-yard touchdown pass with 10 minutes to play.
North Duplin recovered an onside kick and drove down for a second score, which came on a one-yard plunge by Britt. Weldon cut the deficit to 12-6 on the next possession, but the Rebels iced the win when Britt found the end zone for a second time on a one-yard sneak.
Daron Goodman paced the North Duplin attack with 167 yards on 34 carries. Emiliano Mora added 56 yards on six totes. Britt completed both of his pass attempts for 53 yards and on touchdown.

"You're talking about a senior class that had more wins their senior year than they had the rest of the time they were in high school combined. We're losing a lot of seniors but we have a big junior class and I'm really excited with what we have coming back."
