Southern Wayne girls start hoops season with win

SELMA -- Southern Wayne opened its season with a win over Smithfield-Selma on Monday night.
Zaria Atkins led the Saints with 20 points and five assists. Cierra Thompson added nine points and 10 rebounds. Latrecia Johnson pulled down 12 boards to go with her eight points.
Southern Wayne (1-0 overall) plays host to Northern Nash on Wednesday.
