Chargers' Pittman, Glass punch tickets to NCISAA 1A/2-A state meet

Wayne Country Day's Zan Pittman and Robert Glass have punched their tickets to the season-ending N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association Classes 1-A/2-A state championship meet.

Pittman, an eighth-grader, qualified in the 200-yard individual medley (IM) and 100 breaststroke. Pittman won the IM in 2 minutes, 19.81 seconds and touched the wall second in the breaststroke in 1:13.82.

Glass earned a trip to the state meet in the 50 and 100 freestyle events. The lone male senior on the Chargers' squad, Glass placed seventh in the 50 free (27.82 seconds) and 10th overall in the 100 free (1:04.42).

The top eight swimmers in the 50 free and top 10 competitors in the 100 free all advanced to the state finals.

Pittman and Glass helped WCDS place third in the 200 free relay. Daniel Covert swam the opening leg, followed by Pittman and Charlie Dees. Glass handled the anchor duties for the quartet, which posted a time of 2:00.9.

Wayne Christian's Will Gibson took seventh in the 200 free.

On the girls' side, Wayne Country Day's foursome of Laurel Hinson, Allison Bailey, Olivia Dively and Kennedy Dalton ended up fourth in the 200 free relay. The group recorded a time of 2:19.65.

Bailey placed fourth in the 50 free and 14th in the 100 free. Dively and Dalton took eighth and 11th, respectively, in the 50 free.

Wayne Christian's Gabrielle Holzkamm ended up sixth in the 200 free. Teammate Anna Rendell logged a ninth-place time (1:42.29) in the 100 backstroke.
