Wayne Country Day never got its offense going in a 45-18, non-conference loss to Wilson Christian on Tuesday night.
The Chargers kept themselves in the game in the first half with some excellent defensive play and trailed 15-5 at the intermission.
Wilson Christian broke the game open with a 17-2 run in the third quarter fueled by five Wayne Country Day turnovers that led to 10 transition points.
"To hold a team like Wilson Christian to 15 points in a half shows the kind of defense we are capable of playing," Wayne Country Day head coach Claude Waters said. "In the second half it kind of got away from us and our youth showed a little bit. We have to keep working on our offense and help out our point guard in tough situations."
Lillian Freeman led the Chargers with five points. Karis Hawkins added four points in the defeat.
Wayne Country Day (1-2 overall) plays host to Lawrence Academy on Friday night.
