Atkinson scores 20 in WCDS victory

ERWIN -- Lee Atkinson led three players in double figures with 20 points, and Wayne Country Day claimed the Cape Fear Christian Senior Classic championship with a 67-61 victory over Neuse Charter.
Joel Davis added 19 points and pulled down six rebounds. Marlon Coley chipped in 12 points and collected seven rebounds.
The Chargers, directed by first-year head coach David Flowers, opened the Classic with a 79-26 rout of Cape Fear Christian. Tyler Talton pumped in 16 points, while Jason Jones scored 10. Cooley and Atkinson posted eight and seven points, respectively.
Wayne Country Day (2-0 overall) plays host to Wilson Christian on Tuesday.
