Coor qualifies for 1A state cross country meet

CARY -- Spring Creek junior Allen Coor emerged the lone Wayne County runner to qualify for the season-ending N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 1-A state championship meet next Saturday.
Coor ran the 5k course at WakeMed Soccer Park in 17 minutes, 44 seconds in the Mideast Regional on Saturday. Teammate Gage Abbott finished 15th overall in 18:09 and missed qualifying for the state meet by one spot.
Rosewood's Dalton Farmer was 18th in 18:20. Princeton's Matt Edwards took 25th in 18:38.
On the girls' side, Rosewood senior Ashley Duran ended up 10th overall in 21:49 and missed a trip to the state finals by one position. North Duplin's Haley Thurston and Genesis Orellana crossed the line 13th and 14th, respectively.
Princeton's Chelsea Hawley was 23rd overall.
