JV sports
* Volleyball: C.B. Aycock d. Southern Wayne 25-23, 25-16 -- Celeste Davis and Alexus Bynum each had five kills for the Golden Falcons (5-13, 4-8 ECC).
* Volleyball: Pope John Paul d. Wayne Country Day 25-18, 25-13 -- Tiffany Larsen distributed three assists for the Chargers. Teriece Hawley and Stephanie Schappell both had two aces. Wayne Country Day entertains Greenfield on Tuesday.
Middle schools
* Football: Grantham 20, Norwayne 8 -- Manny Walker scored on touchdown runs of 38 and 14 yards for Grantham. Rikem Shepherd returned an interception 48 yards for a touchdown. Matthew Hollingsworth led the Bulldogs' defense with eight tackles, including four tackles for loss. Grantham (5-0, 2-0 Div. II Middle School Conference) plays host to Mount Olive on Oct. 18.
* Football: Spring Creek 32, Mount Olive 0 -- Spring Creek's Chase Fields had two rushing touchdowns and a pair of two-point conversions. Matt Dupuy and Jesse Casper both supplied a rushing touchdown. Dupuy completed two passes to Will Archer for 30 yards. Archer has recovered a fumble and had an interception. Fields and Archer both finished with six tackles. The Gators (2-2) play host to Brogden on Oct. 18.
* Volleyball: Norwayne d. Spring Creek 25-12, 25-10, 26-24 -- Norwayne improved to 9-0.
