Simmons earns medalist honors on home course

Tara Simmons earned medalist honors with a 2-under par 34 and Charles B. Aycock dominated a five-team, Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference meet contested Wednesday afternoon at Lane Tree Golf Club.
The Golden Falcons' Madison Aycock finished runner-up to Simmons with 47, while teammate Kristen Denning fired a 59 to complete the team's three-player score of 140. Madison Batts contributed a 60 in miserable, cold conditions.
Aubrey Sasser led Southern Wayne with a 57. Macy Weeks recorded a 58, followed by Katie Anderson (62) and Casey Sparks (63)
Triton took second in team action with a 161. Cleveland (165), South Johnston (172) and Southern Wayne (177) rounded out the conference scores. Non-ECC member Corinth-Holders collected a 173.
The ECC concludes play next Monday at Riverwood Country Club.
