* KINSTON -- Kelsey Kornegay recorded eight kills and two blocks as Wayne Christian concluded regular-season play with a 25-15, 25-20, 25-15 loss against perennial Christian schools power Bethel Christian.
Katie Caviness contributed two kills, six assists and served an ace. Kaylee Wallace provided two kills and two blocks.
Morgan Foss paced the defense with nine digs.
Wayne Christian (4-9 overall) drew the No. 6 seed for the Carolina Christian 1-A Conference tournament and opposes third-seeded Community Christian of Wilson on Tuesday. Match time is 6 p.m.
Ayden-Grifton 3, N. Duplin 0
* LITTLEFIELD -- Chesney Brown posted six kills, three blocks and four service aces in North Duplin's 25-22, 25-18, 25-16 loss against Ayden-Grifton on the Carolina 1-A Conference scene.
Paige Beene handed out eight assists. Brooke McCarter and Shaily McCarter led the Rebels' defensive effort with six and five digs, respectively. Mia Owens collected four digs and served a pair of aces.
Middle schools
* Volleyball: Spring Creek d. Dillard 25-8, 25-18 and 25-1, 25-19 -- Fernanda Martinez led the Gators (6-2 overall) with 14 aces. Ashley Marriner had three aces and Karyme Reyes contributed two aces.
