* Senior outside hitter Britney O'Hara pounded out a career-high 20 kills in Wayne Christian's 25-20, 27-29, 25-16, 25-18 triumph over Cape Fear Christian at Clifford Gymnatorium.
It was the Carolina Christian 1-A opener for both teams.
O'Hara served five aces for the visiting Eagles, who improved to 2-0 overall. Jessica Swets delivered eight kills and picked up 10 digs on defense, while Carly Hightower (four aces) provided five kills. Katie Caviness contributed two aces, three kills and two assists.
Senior libero Haley Greenwood logged three aces and nine digs.
Junior setter Katie Isenhower dished out 29 assists and delivered six aces.
Wayne Christian visits The Epiphany School on Tuesday.
Girls' tennis
Wilmington Laney 6,
Greene Central 3
* WILMINGTON -- Brittany Colie and Hayes Lovett each claimed a straight-set singles victory in Greene Central's 6-3 loss to Wilmington Laney in the 2011 Port City Invitational.
Lovett and Kayla Rayford combined for a win at No. 2 doubles.
Greene Central fell to 1-2 overall.
