SEVEN SPRINGS -- Spring Creek grabbed the momentum early and never let go.

Behind a dominant performance from senior Kelsey Rogers and consistent serving, the Gators swept Wayne Country Day in three games 25-17, 25-20, 25-17 on Tuesday evening.

Spring Creek seized control of the match early as Rogers asserted herself at the net. Rogers contributed a pair of kills and two aces as the Gators took a 7-2 lead in the opening set.

Corrie Archer provided an ace and two more kills from Rogers stretched the lead to 16-8. Rogers' kill off Diana Correno's assist and Correno's ace helped finish off set one.

"One thing we've worked on is energy and we have to have the energy this year," said Spring Creek head coach Deanna Morris. "They really improved on their energy and really wanted to win."

The Chargers fed off Gators' unforced errors early in set two and Bailee Creger's block put Wayne Country Day in front 10-7. Spring Creek battled back as the Chargers' struggled with errors of their own.

Rogers' kill and two aces from Sarah Ford gave the Gators a 15-11 advantage. Bianca Morato supplied a pair of kills down the stretch and Rogers' kill closed out set two. Rogers contributed seven kills in the second set and finished the match with 14.

"We did better on our passes so we could get some sets up to (Rogers)," Morris said. "She's really showing out as a senior, and she's really paying attention to where the holes are and just playing smart."

Ford's ace and kills from Olivia Martinez and Rogers helped Spring Creek jump out to a 7-3 lead in set three. Louta Correno and Diana Correno both delivered aces as the lead grew to 16-9.

The Gators ended the night with 14 aces.

Wayne Country Day climbed to within 18-14 on a pair of Spring Creek unforced errors but two aces from Martinez and Rogers' 14th kill of the match finished off the Chargers.

Louta Correno provided five kills for the Gators. Jessica Zhou had four kills for Wayne Country Day.

Spring Creek (1-1 overall) travels to Southern Wayne on Thursday, while the Chargers (2-3) are the guests of county rival Wayne Christian.
